Charles began his career at Ford Motor Company upon graduating from the University of Michigan business school in 1991.  While there, he progressed through sales, marketing, fixed operations, retail network development, start-up, and motorsports positions across the country.  

Beginning in 2004, he has been recruited for key management and executive roles with the Len Stoler Automotive Group, Hyundai Motor America, the world-renowned Skip Barber Racing School, TrueCar, VW of America, Kia Motors America, and Nissan North America.  While at VW, Charles led dealer network development for their Pacific Region, and at Kia he was the head of all U.S. Dealer Network Development operations.

In July 2020, he joined the Hudson Automotive Group as Director, Retail Transformation to help develop and lead “modern retailing” initiatives for their rapidly growing organization.  Charles has also been a strategic advisor and Board member for ZED Engines, Inc. for several years, an engineering start-up which has developed a revolutionary engine that is significantly cleaner for the environment than battery electric power, but with a lower production cost than internal combustion engines.
